In the last 2 days there was a burglary dwelling in Main Road, Bosham. The premises was unoccupied and entry was forced. It is unknown what was taken at this stage.
In Linchmere & Fernhurst there has been a series of breaks to unattended motor vehicles. Tom Toms and an Ipod which were on show were taken. Please spread the word, when a vehicle is not in use please hide these valuable items and the tell tale marks they leave on the windscreen.

Over the last warm bank holiday weekend, reported crime in general, was extremely low. There were a few highlighted themes we are passing onto you to circulate to your members as below. Any information you obtain please pass back to myself and I will ensure the information is passed to the relevant officer.
Car Park Thefts -
Lead Thefts – As you may all be aware the value of scrap has rocketed in the recent months. Southbourne has suffered theft of lead from roofs. Can you all be wary of people sighted on roofs at odd hours or people removing such lead.
Laptop scam – If you are approached by people in public places for example car parks and are offered laptops for sale from the back of a car or van at a very cheap price. This is a current scam where you will be shown a real live laptop, make payment of approximately £500 and then realise after the transaction the laptop bag contains no more than drinks or other low value items. If it is too good to be true – it probably is!

A lady has reported being followed by a suspicious male whilst walking her dog in a field off of Southover Way, Hunston. He seemed to disappear for a short time but she then noticed him watching her from nearby bushes. He did not speak with the lady but she was concerned by his presence. He is described as being a white male, 5'6" in height, stocky build with dark short brown hair. He was wearing a ¾ length coat and dark blue trousers. The informant cannot give any idea of age.
The male's identity is still unknown but we would invite details of any other sightings please, quoting serial number 709 of the 22nd April 2008.
A quantity of lead has been stolen from the roof of The Half Moon public house in Kirdford. This has occurred sometime over the past 3 months. The offender may well have left an item of property at the scene but this line of enquiry is still being investigated.
We are still experiencing thefts from motor vehicles left in the rural car parks
where items are left on display or the cars themselves have been left unlocked. Making
the thieves' task easier will quite often make ours that much more difficult: the
theft will be that much quicker to commit and they are less likely to leave valuable
forensic evidence behind. Neighbourhood Watch volunteers around the Midhurst and
Petworth areas have been helping to prevent this type of offence by performing pre-
