Representatives meets six times a year to compare and consider problems and local initiatives and an Annual General Meeting for all Co-ordinators and interested members is held in Chichester each year during October/November.
From 1st April 2008 support for NW was transferred to the Neighbourhood Specialist Teams located in the local Police Stations. The contact names numbers for the various Teams will appear on the appropriate web pages.
At the CDNWA's poorly attended AGM in November 2011, the Association was on the brink
of collapse due to lack of support, Sandie Moore (Midhurst & Petworth) and Michael
Shergold (from Selsey) agreed to try to keep the Association going for at least another
year and spend this year trying to identify active and interested Co-ordinators to
re-form the committee and perhaps elect a new Chairman to keep the Association going
in the future.
Sandie is contacting all the co-ordinators North of the Downs and Michael is co-ordinating
the effort South of the Downs.
[If the ‘Association’ were to fold, individual NW street schemes would still continue
but the regular contact with local Divisional senior police would be lost, local
funds would be returned to the Sussex Federation and this local CDNWA Website would
probably have to eventually close.]
Already Area-Co-ordinators in the Witterings, Sidlesham, Tangmere, Oving, Lavant,
Charlton and in Chichester itself are contacting all their co-ordinators to see if
they are still active, receiving the regular police messages, and are in regular
touch with their PCSOs etc. We are also trying to identify any problems to take
forward either to the police or to the Sussex Neighbourhood Watch organisation. Hopefully
by doing this we can get the database up-to-date and have confidence that messages
are not being misdirected, lost or just ignored.
